About Daniel

Heyman’s journalistic approach to portraying the oppression and courage of his chosen subjects earned him the 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship in Fine Arts and a 2009 Pew Fellowship in the Arts. Today he integrates elements from across cultures to create his art.

  • “Abu Ghraib Detainee Interview Project” at the DePaul University Museum in Chicago, IL
  • “Eye Witness” at the University of Iowa Museum of Art, Iowa City, IA

His work has been included in important group shows around the US including at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Minneapolis Institute of the Arts, Rhode Island School of Design Art Museum, the Meade Museum at Amherst College and the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Academia:

Heyman earned an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and is a cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College. Currently Heyman teaches at Rhode Island School of Design and Princeton University.
